Five decades of excellence

When NHP was established in 1968, founder Nigel Peck was determined to create a 100% Australian-owned company focused on providing the best service and highest level of quality products. From humble beginnings, NHP has expanded to provide electrical engineering excellence to all corners of Australia and New Zealand.

Two elements have formed the heart of this company:

• Bringing the world to Australasia - NHP provides the very best the world can offer, with the local knowledge to supply products that suit Australasian industrial conditions.
• Services and solutions - NHP offers a great deal more than boxed production. Services and solutions are essential elements in the unique NHP mix.

Key milestones for NHP

1968 
Nigel Hugh Peck first opens the doors to NHP in 1968 with a staff of just 17. With foundation brands including Sprecher + Schuh, NHP target Motor Control through their product offering and lay the foundations to one day become a leading global provider in industrial electrical products, systems and solutions. 

1970s
Within NHP’s first decade of operation, the company grows to have over 50 employees and further expands its product offering to cover Power Distribution, including MCCBs and ACB assembly. 

1980s 
Introducing control and panel products to the NHP range and with close to 200 employees, NHP opens its first Western Australia branch in Perth - a big step towards their promise to serve customers nationwide. 

1990s
NHP hosts ‘NHP Insight’ at the company HQ in Richmond, Melbourne. This inaugural event brings together an array of global manufacturers under one roof for a trade show that highlighted the growing capabilities of NHP products and services. The NHP product offering is expanded to include safety products, drives and automation systems. In 1998, NHP commences operations in New Zealand, becoming Australasia’s leading electrical engineering provider.

Beyond 2000
NHP’s position as the leading Australasian electrical engineering solutions provider is further strengthened by forging a market-leading partnership with Rockwell Automation, providing our customers in the South Pacific region with the convenience of obtaining all their industrial switchgear and automation requirements from one source. To cater for the growing business, NHP builds a new National Manufacturing and Distribution Facility in Laverton, Melbourne. NHP’s New Zealand operation expands with a presence all up and down the country.

Today 
NHP remains a privately-held Australian company that currently has more than 20 branches across Australia and New Zealand. As always, we are committed to embracing new technologies and pushing the boundaries of industry best practice to ensure they provide their customers with the highest quality products and services. Customers are encouraged to visit the NHP Hub at the company HQ in Richmond, Melbourne, which is a specialist demonstration and training facility for NHP’s range of SMART Power Distribution and SMART Devices.

NHP’s renowned events provide customers with face to face product information and training across Australia and New Zealand and are now complimented by a program of regular technical webinars, which customers can watch at a time and location that suits them. The NHP website now allows customers to purchase directly online and to track the status of their orders. We have also become the exclusive distributor of Stanilite exit and emergency lighting systems, Fiix Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and Delta electric vehicle charging solutions.
